WebDec 19, 2006 · Nice amps. I have a Heritage VTX (130W version of same). The VTs have a weirdo TI chip (replaced in the VTX series) that handles channel switching and reverb. It's way out of production, and apparently it fails easily. Peavey has a retrofit that is a chip-on-a-chip adaptor. Looks really ghetto but works great and is cheap. I don't know of any mods other than selling it for $125 (sold mine for $75 due to condition) and putting that money towards an amp that is actually good. You won't find discontinued items on their website, but they do have some parts for 'em. Not sure how much it would be, but they will build a footswitch for a discontinued amp to order. WebNov 21, 2012 · Pulling the "Thick" knob on the lead treble adds high mids. It needs to be out. Parametric mids also throw people off. You can really destroy tone with one of those. It’s looking like there are some problems with it. There are 2 channels on the amp. “Normal gain” and “Lead gain”. By default the Lead channel is active when you do not have the foot switch.
