Web13 dec. 2024 · In 1536, among the servants of the priory were included two priests 'to serve the church of Maxstoke and sing mass in the chapel of Bentley in the parish of Shustoke'. (fn. 48) The advowson and rectory of the free chapel of Bentley was granted by the Crown in 1538 to Charles Brandon, Duke of Suffolk. (fn. 49) Footnotes 1.
